The official role of the Spleen/pancreas is much like that of a Quartermaster who allocates supplies. It governs digestion and the transformation of food into Qi and blood. When the spleen/pancreas is in balance we feel stabilized and centered. It is responsible for memories, ideas and intelligence.
The Stomach is known as the “sea of nourishment” for its role in providing energy to the whole body from the intake of food and fluids. Once nutrients are digested, the stomach moves them onward to the Small Intestine system. Spleen/pancreas and Stomach work closely together to keep us alive and flourishing with ideas.
The Spleen/pancreas meridian starts at the big toe and travels the inner leg, into the groin area, then traversing the abdomen, ending on the sides of the rib cage, underneath the arms. Beginning just below the eyes, the Stomach meridian circles the mouth, travels over and up the jaw with a branch that descends through the neck, entire torso, outer legs, across the feet to the end of the second toe.
Positive emotions of these systems are honesty, openness and acceptance. With an imbalance in these two systems, we may experience excessive thinking, worry, remorse and self-doubt
