Considered the “Root of Life,” the Kidney system is the foundation of the Yin and the Yang energies for all the other organ systems. This is so because at conception, the “Kidney essence” of both parents come together and gets stored within this system. Being the foundation of Yin and Yang energies, the Kidney system is different from other organs systems. It is the origin of the elements of water (yin) and fire (yang), from which the body gains its vitality.
The Urinary Bladder receives the impure part of fluids after the Small Intestine system separates them from the clean fluids. Through the power of the Urinary Bladder Qi flow, the transformation, excretion and storage of fluids can be accomplished.
The Kidney meridian begins at the bottom of the feet and travels up the inside (yin) aspect of the ankles and legs, through the groin, up the abdomen to the base of the collar bone. The Urinary Bladder meridian starts at the inner eyes near the bridge of the nose. It travels up and over the head in a traversing pattern, down the neck and spine, across the buttock then down the outside (yang) aspect of the legs. The last point on this channel is on the edge of the small “pinky” toe nail.
Without the strength of our Kidney and Urinary Bladder systems we may fall into the negative feelings of fear, loneliness, and insecurity. Cultivating a balance provides us with clear perception, self-understanding and wisdom for an abundant life.
